Riedel is renowned in the world of wine glasses and, throughout its 250-year history, Riedel glasses have always stood for the high art of glassmaking.
Its founder, Claus Riedel, was the first to design and tailor glasses to the character of particular wine varieties because he recognised that the shape and feel of a glass had a direct bearing on the character of wine from which it is tasted. By directing the wine to exactly the right parts of the tongue, Riedel wine glasses allow you to appreciate the often-hidden subtleties of your favourite variety.

Riedel Collections
Riedel has a range of different glass collections. Each collection comprises glasses for a wide range of wines, including popular varieties such as rieslings, bordeaux and champagnes, through to more obscure types such as ports and bitters. The features of each of Riedel's collections are discussed below:
Riedel Sommeliers Collection
Mouth-blown, 24% lead-crystal.
Riedel's "Sommeliers" is the wineglass benchmark and the most successful series of hand-made glasses in the world. Each glass is individually made: the upperparts blown into a mould, the stem and base had-crafted using methods developed centuries ago. With Sommeliers, Riedel's glass-makers invest their talent, know-how and meticulous craftsmanship in making glasses of the impeccable quality.
Riedel Vinum Collection
Machine-blown, 24% lead crystal.
Introduced in 1986, Riedel's Vinum was the first machine-made series of glasses in history to be based on the principles of quality and reasonable price. Vinum has had a permanent impact on the globe’s wine glass culture, proving to consumers and restaurateurs that the pleasure of consuming wine starts with the glass. The Vinum collection, developed by Georg Riedel on the principle that the content commands the shape, is the “Vitrum-Vinothek” for every day use.
Riedel Vinum Extreme Collection

Vinum Extreme is the latest development in Riedel's machine-made "Gourmet Glass" concept, incorporating the recent progress that has been made in the features and quality of machine production.
Riedel O Series Collection
Machine-made potash.
With no stem or base, Riedel's O Series is the ideal glass for every day use and for every occasion. It is fun, feels good to hold, looks trendy and it works. The designs of the Riedel O Series are based on the benchmark shapes of Riedel Vinum. For the first time in glass history the design parameters such as shape of tumbler, size and diameter of rim, have been finely-tuned to enhance the world’s most important grape varietals. It fits in every dishwasher, picnic basket, minibar or small kitchen, and broken stems are a thing of the past.
